The Youngstown Marathon is dedicated to educating the Mahoning Valley about maintaining a healthy lifestyle and supporting the community. We know you probably have lots of questions, so we'll be adding them here as they come in!
When is the date/ start time?
The marathon, half marathon and relay begin at 8:00 AM.
The 5k begins at 8:15 AM.
All races take place on Sunday, October 25th, 2020.
The Kids Fun Run is Saturday, October 24th, 2020 at 11:30 AM at the Health & Wellness Expo.
Where does the race start/end?
The Marathon, 1/2 Marathon, Relay & 5K begin and end at Second Sole Youngstown.
The address is 755 Boardman-Canfield Road, Youngstown, OH 44512.
Is there an expo?
Yes. Next year's expo location is TBD. The date is Saturday, October 24th, 2020. Expo hours are 10am-4pm.
What are the cutoff times for each race?
Full marathon & Relay: 6 hours
Half marathon: 3.5 hours
5k: 1.5 hours
When do prices increase?
Prices increase on March 1, July 1, October 1 and on race day.
Where is parking located?
Ample parking is available near and around Second Sole Youngstown.
Do all runners earn finisher medals?
Yes, including 5k runners
Can I setup a booth at the expo?
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for information on setting up a booth at the expo.
Where is packet pick-up?
Packets can be picked up at the expo. If you cannot attend the expo, please arrange for someone to pick your packet up for you.
Are there awards?
Yes, there will be age group awards for all distances. Full and Half marathon races also include Masters and Grand Masters.
What other swag do runners receive?
Runners receive an awesome finisher medal, a locally designed and printed race t-shirt, and other goodies in their packet.
Do you permit strollers on the course?
Strollers are permitted for the 5k only.
Do you permit headphones on the course?
We do not ban headphones and music devices, but we strongly suggest you do not use them on the course to maintain basic runner safety.
Do you permit pets on the course?
Only service animals are permitted on the course. Please send proper documentation to with the subject line “Service Animal Accommodation.”
Are there preferred hotels?
Yes. Our 2020 preferred hotels are TBD.
What charities does the race benefit?
Three charities will be chosen for the 2020 event including one charity chosen by race participants.
Is there an elite pool?
This year, we do not have an elite field. We welcome elites to participate.
Is there a wheelchair division?
While there is not a formal division, we welcome everyone to join our races.
Are the courses USATF certified? Is the marathon a Boston Qualifier?
The 2020 Youngstown Marathon course is USATF certified as a Boston Qualifier.
When does registration close?
Online registration closes on October 21st, 2020. Registration will be available at the Expo on Saturday, October 24th, 2020.
Can I register online?
Yes, you can register HERE through ChronoTrack, our timing and registration system.
Are there paper registrations?
Paper registrations are located at Second Sole Youngstown at 755 Boardman-Canfield Road, Youngstown, Ohio 44512.

Checks should be made out to Youngstown Marathon Foundation and mailed to Second Sole Youngstown.
I can’t make it after all - can you refund me?
We do not give refunds, but you can transfer your registration. Please email email@example.com with your request or visit the timing booth at the expo.
Can I change which event I participate in once I am registered?
Yes. Please visit the Information Booth at the expo. If you are downgrading your distance, changing events is free of charge (but you will not be refunded the difference). If you are upgrading your distance, you must pay the difference. Example: Runners downgrading from the full to the half do not pay anything. Runners upgrading from the full to the half must pay the difference in price.
Can I transfer my registration?
Transfers are $10. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org regarding any transfers.
MARATHON/HALF MARATHON SPECIFIC Q&A
What is the time limit for the marathon and half marathon?
The full marathon time limit is 6 hours; the half marathon time limit is 3.5 hours.
Are there water and nutrition stops along the course?
There are 10 water stops among the marathon and half marathon courses. Nutrition stops will be offered.
Gatordade Endurance is the official electrolyte replenishment sports drink.
Do you offer pacers?
Yes. We are offering pacing times of 3:45, 4:00, 4:30, 5:00 and 5:15 for the full marathon and pacing times
of 1:45, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45 and 3:00 hours for the 1/2 marathon.
When does the kids dash take place?
The kids dash takes place on Saturday, October 25th, 2020 at the Expo.
How long is the kids dash?
We offer two kids dash races: .25 miles and .15 miles. We encourage children under 5 to run the shorter distance. All children under five must run with an adult. Children may participate in one race and are entitled to one medal.
What ages are the participants?
Ages range is up to 12. Children under 5 must have an adult run with them (free of charge).
What comes in the kids dash race packets?
Kids will receive a t-shirt and finisher medal among other goodies.
Are there awards?
The purpose of this race is to have fun and enjoy running. We will not give out awards (other than participation medals) for the kids dash races.
